More than just a bad back.

Osteopathy is similar to physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage. It is a drug free, non-surgical approach to health, primarily focusing on musculo-skeletal issues.

The more you know and understand what may be happening, the better.  I try to give you information & help (evidence based where possible) to increase the chances of you meeting your goals and managing your condition independently. This may include:
  • Information about pain - the more you understand why something may hurt, the easier it is to deal with it.
  • Exercise advice - individual exercises, programs, training, referral where needed
  • Postural advice - posture is important but poor posture is not the same as pain.
  • Manual therapy techniques - e.g. massage and mobilisation. I don't manipulate ('pop'/crack')  joints.
  • Other home care advice when needed - e.g.  foam rollers, relaxation/deep-breathing exercises and occasionally dietary information.
  • Referral to other therapists/ trainers if appropriate.
  • Please note, I do not 'put anything back into place', 'straighten/ re-align' spines or 'correct symmetry' etc. I'm not sure this is possible and these explanations can cause more problems than they help.

You can find reviews written by people who I have seen in Prague here:

A typical face-to-face session involves:
  • A discussion about why you have come and what you want from me.
  • If we think you are safe to be worked on and will benefit from what I offer, after the physical examination we can work out an approach that suits you together.
  • A session typically lasts unto 50 minutes, including the initial discussion, examination, techniques and any advice.
  • If you are uncomfortable undressing to your underwear (which isn't always needed), you may keep on whatever clothes you wish.
  • You are welcome to bring someone along as a chaperone.
  • At any stage of the treatment, you can ask what I'm doing and why if you feel you don't understand.
  • You may request me to stop at any point, for any reason
  • Please note that I am not a doctor or a physio in Cz and so am unable to make an official medical diagnosis.
